I’d like to talk about my favorite coffee shop, Express Café, which is located on the fifth floor of the Lingnan Artworks Mart on the corner of Zhongshansan Road and Dongchuan Road. When you get onto the fifth floor of the red building, a long corridor will lead you into the café. It is not very big, about 30 square meters with 5 coffee tables in the middle and two corner sofas. There is a counter on the right where coffee and light meals are served. The café is decorated in the continental with some paintings. The dim light from the wall lamps racks them something full of imagination. There are several newspaper racks on the corner and people could browse the fashion magazines and have a good understanding of the latest fashion. Beside the racks is a shelf where a lot of self-made cards are on display. I really like this café because you can enjoy some quiet moments on your own there. A cup of coffee and tranquil melody, fantastic! Another reason is that it serves a great variety of genuine coffees and my favorites are cappuccino and espresso pot. Both taste a little bitter but smell very fragrant. The boss of the café graduated from an ares college, majoring in design. He is very creative and can make a lot of things, cards, sculptures, etc. Not many people come here during the day, but a lot of couples ang foreigners would come in the evening and on weekends. I would have a cup of coffee here with my friends when I am free. You know, it is a good place for talking and socializing. If you have time, I would like to invite you to have a cup of cappuccino with me there.
Being a bear species, the giant panda is built just like any other bear but has the most distinct appearance of all species; its white body with black eye patches, muzzle, ears, legs and band across the shoulders can be recognized by anyone in the world. It inhabits in the remote mountain areas in China. Ever since its existence was introduced to Europe by a French missionary, Armand David in 1869, this teddy-bear-like animal became very popular and never stopped exciting people’s curiosity. Today, the popularity of the giant panda continues not only in Japan but all over the world and people just love its adorable appearance and comical behaviors. Giant pandas feed almost entirely on bamboo leaves and stalks. Although classified as carnivore, their diet mostly consists of plants and they are rarely found feeding on small animals. Their digestive system is not very efficient, and most food they eat is excreted without being digested. Giant pandas are usually solitary and spend most of the day feeding. The number of young per litter is usually 1 or 2. Cubs, only weighing 100 _ 150 grams at birth, are covered with sparse white fur and have no black markings. It takes panda cubs 1 to 2 months to open their eyes, 6 months to wean, and 12 months to leave their mothers.
The giant panda lives in bamboo forests at 1,300 to 3,500 meters above sea level in Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi provinces in China. According to the surveys and protection programs conducted since the 1980’s, the population of giant pandas has remained at about 800 to 1200. This is said to be due to logging operations by the China’s open-door policy, as well as land development and poaching. Pandas do not breed well and mothers do not devote themselves to raising their offspring, which also attribute to the endangered status. Today, many attempts are made to breed the giant panda such as artificial insemination.

Chinese Valentine's Day is on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month in the Chinese calendar. A love story for this day is about the 7th daughter of Emperor of Heaven and an orphaned cowherd. The Emperor separated them. The 7th daughter was forced to move to the star Vega and the cowherd moved to the star Altair. They are allowed to meet only once a year on the day of 7th day of 7th lunar month.
The story began from the good-looking poor orphaned boy living with his elder brother and sister-in-law. After his parents past away, his brother inherited the house and the land. The boy owned an old ox. He needed to work on the farm's field with the ox everyday. So he was called a cowherd. His daily life was just like in a Cinderella story.
The 7th daughter of Emperor is good at handcrafting, especially weaving clothing. So she was called a Weaving Maid. The Emperor likes her skill to weave clouds and rainbows to beautify the world.
The ox was actually an immortal from the Heaven. He made mistakes in the Heaven and was punished as an ox in the Earth. One day, the ox suddenly said to the cowherd, "You are a nice person. If you want to get married, go to the brook and your wish will be come true." The cowherd went to the brook and saw all 7 pretty daughters of Emperor came down from Heaven and took a bath in there. Fascinated by the youngest and also the most beautiful one, he took away her fairy clothes secretly. The other six fairies went away after bath. The youngest couldn't fly back without her fairy clothes. Then the cowherd appeared and told her that he would not return her clothes unless she promised to be his wife. After a little hesitation and with a mixture of shyness and eagerness, she agreed to the request from this handsome man. So they married and had two children two years later.
One day, the old ox was dying and told the cowherd that he should keep his hide for emergency purpose.

Boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival commemorate the attempt to rescue the patriotic poet Chu Yuan, who drowned on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in 277 B.C. Unable to save him, the people threw bamboo stuffed with cooked rice into the water so that the fish would eat the rice rather than the body of their hero. This evolved into the present custom of eating tzungtzu, rice dumplings filled with ham or bean paste and wrapped in bamboo leaves. Since antiquity the Chinese have believed that the fifth lunar month is a pestilential, danger-fraught period. Sanitation is emphasized, medicines are added to food, aromatic branches are hung above doors, and beautifully embroidered protective amulets or sachets containing spices or medicines are fastened to the clothing of children.
Large crowds attend the festive boat races in Taipei, Lukang, Taiwan, and Kaohsiung. Teams from all over the world compete in the races as excited observers cheer form the river banks. ___________________________________________________________________The Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival, on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, observes the biggest and brightest full moon of the year, the harvest moon.
One legend about the Moon Festival concerns expert architect Hou Yih, who built a palace of jade for the Goddess of the western heaven. In reward, she gave Hou Yih a pill with the elixir of immortality, warning him not to take it until he had fulfilled certain conditions. Hou Yih's ever-curious wife, Chang O, found the pill and promptly swallowed it. As punishment, she was banished to the moon where, according to tradition, her beauty is at its most radiant on the day of the Moon Festival. The Festival is a public holiday marked by family reunions, moon gazing, and the eating of moon cakes-round pastries stuffed with red bean paste and an egg yolk, or fruit and preserves.
Changsha -- 'Long Sand Isle' Changsha is a beautiful old city located on the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and the Xiangjiang River in the eastern part of Hunan Province. It got the name of Changsha - "long sand isle" - because of an island in the river. Changsha belonged to the State of Chu 2,500 years ago and was later ruled by the Qin Dynasty. Today, it is the political, economic, and cultural center of Hunan, of which it is the capital. It is a comprehensively developed industrial city, with machinery, textiles, and food processing as its mainstays. Yuelu Hill
This famous scenic area is on the west bank of the Xiangjiang. The ancient Lushan Temple on the hill slope, built in A.D. 268 by Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty (263-316), is one of the oldest monasteries in Hunan. The huge yew podocarpus tree standing in front of the temple is said to be more than 1,700 years old. There is a clear spring near the temple, named White Crans Spring (Baihequan), whose water, when boiled, gives off whirling steam said to look like a flying crane. The Loving Youth Pavilion (Aiwanting) at the foot of the hill was built in 1792 during the Qing Dynasty; the beauty of this spot, with its blossoming peach trees, graceful willows, and flowing streams has attracted many poets and artists.
The Yuelu Academy of classical Learning, hidden in the woods, was built at the beginning of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) and was one of the greatest classical academies of that time. Zhu Xi (1130-1200), a famous Confucianist philosopher, used to teach here. The late leader of the Chinese revolution, Mao Zedong, also studied here.
